KUDOKE has specialized in the art of skeletonizing. That is why the refinement of mechanical movements is extremely important to us. It is the heart of each watch.
Make a sketch
Based on the type of
movement, we make a sketch initially. Within this first step the
customer is asked to express his/her individual wishes which are
considered and implemented if technically feasible.
Dismantle the movement
Before the sketch is copied on the movement it has to be disassembled into its components. The picture alongside shows the parts of a self winding movement.
Skeletonize by hand
With a small coping
saw the complete movement is skeletonized by hand according to the
sketch. In doing so abundant material has to be eliminated. During the
skeletonizing process we have to exercise great care not to destroy the
form and stability of the movement.
Filing and trimming
Within the next work step the movement is shaped by filing, any burr has to be removed and variours decorative grindings are made. Afterwards all edges are spotlessly filed and polished until a so called 'Anglierung' has developed.
Engraving
The movement in its final shape is now engraved completely by hand. To work out the diminutive details a microscope is used. By including special patterns, writings and symbols the individuality of the movement can be further intensified.
Refinement of screws
The traditional finishing of a movement contains the refinement of the screws by hand. Within several work stages they are grinded off, polished and blued over a naked flame until all screws of one movement have the same blue shade.
Electroplating
Before reassembling and casing the refined movement, plates, bridges and the block are electroplated. By means of this technique fascinating color effects can be created using different shades of rhodium, silver and gold.
