For some models of KUDOKE the dial is manufactured completely by hand. Using the example of the KUDOKE Mysticum the process of producing a dial by hand is to be explained in more detail.
Turning off the dial
At first the dial has to be turned off by means of a turning machine until it reaches its final shape. Afterwards holes are drilled to place the indices later.
Skeletonizing the dial
Within the next step the dial is sawed out by hand with a small watchmaker saw. By doing this four elongated openings are formed, whereby the hour indication will be visible later on.
Filing the blank
Now these openings have to be filed to perfect its round shapes and to remove any burr.
Setting dial fixations
To fixate the dial with the movement, two little pins are positioned and attached to the backside of the dial.
Engraving
Then the face of the dial is decorated with elaborate engravings. This high-precision handwork is conducted with a special microscope to incorporate and perfect even the smallest details.
Producing indices
Even the fixed scale of the dial in the form of small steel indices is turned off by hand. Afterwards it is grinded off in several steps, polished and blued manually.
Setting indices
After the dial has been electroplated, the indices which have been turned off, polished and blued by hand are finally attached to the dial.
