KUDOKE 2 – Shams & Qamar

Inspired by the Sun & Moon which are highly regarded within the Islamic World and Arabian Culture as evident signs of God Almighty’s greatness in creation and how such a creation furnishes mankind with the knowledge of measuring time, 10tenlabs® and independent watchmaker Stefan Kudoke in their second collaboration proudly present the KUDOKE 2 Shams & Qamar Edition.

This one-off exclusive limited edition has been curated for the Middle East region and offered exclusively to 10tenlabs®’s community watch collector members. The Shams & Qamar Edition consists of a total of 11 timepieces. The first and single one being a Shams (Arabic for Full Sun) and the remaining 10 pieces Qamar (Arabic for Full Moon).

Both versions are equipped with a galvano-black frosted dial and matching PVD black matte blasted case to highlight the main motives of each edition. The “KUDOKE 2 Shams” is a unique timepiece featuring a full sun engraving at the rotating domed 24-hour disk at 12 o’clock where normally the day/night theme is displayed. If you now think that the 24h time display would now no longer be readable, you are mistaken. Because while the sun shines golden, one sunray electroplated in white rhodium discreetly shows the current time of day or night.

The sun and moon theme is also taken up in the 24h-chapter ring with a sun and crescent. The Arabic-indic numerals printed on the minute chapter ring are reference to the region it is dedicated to.

The Shams Edition echoes the color of the sun not only on the dial side, but also in the movement. The timepiece houses a Kaliber 1 – 24h, manual winding movement, serial numbered 0/10 with “Shams” being engraved in Arabic on the logo plate as well as 10:10 branding on the balance cock. 

In contrast the Qamar Edition uses the domed 24 hour indicator to feature a hand-engraved full moon plated in white rhodium. While we ourselves have not yet been to the moon, the surface texture is engraved with its craters in great detail of course by hand. A small arrow set off in black rhodium is the time indicator here.

By subtly combining elements of Arabia with artistry and craftsmanship, this timepiece is truly man-made. From the hand-grinded surface of the movement bridge electroplated in white rhodium to the hand-engraved Arabian “Qamar” writing on the logo plate as well as balance cock with 10:10 Labs branding in black rhodium one can perceive what makes a hand finished watch so special.

This special limited edition comes with a black suede leather strap with matching matte black pin buckle. It is available at 10:10 Labs exclusively.
